March 25, 1936 – December 24, 2025

Charles William Harrison, who is lovingly known as Chuck, passed away on December 24, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on March 25, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, the only child of Tessie Marie and Charles Wayne Harrison. Although his family roots were in Mountain Grove, Missouri, Chuck spent his childhood and much of his life in Chicago.

Chuck graduated from Tilden Technical High School and attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier for two years, studying engineering. He later enlisted in the Army Reserve and was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. During the Berlin Crisis, Chuck was recalled to active duty, but the crisis ended before he was deployed overseas.

After returning home, Chuck began a long career with Illinois Bell (AT&T), where he worked for more than 20 years. He was proud to be part of the team that helped design the 911 Emergency System in 1968. Later, he continued his professional journey as a purchaser for Hammond Group.

Chuck had a lifelong passion for building and flying model airplanes, trains, and boats. He was an active member of competitive flying clubs and won awards for his skill and dedication. Another hobby he loved was designing and racing tether boats, earning multiple awards for his achievements. Chuck was also an avid Chicago Bears fan and looked forward to football Sundays.

Chuck met the love of his life, Marsha Harrison, at the Aurora Roller Rink, and they shared 25 wonderful years of marriage. He was an accomplished artistic roller skater and enjoyed watching skating competitions and shows with Marsha.

Chuck was deeply loved by his family and friends. He cherished every visit and stayed closely connected with those he cared about. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marsha Harrison; his stepchildren Gregg & Heather Cognac and Brenda & Andy Martin; and seven grandchildren: Madison (21), Conner (19), Amber (18), Annie (14), Preston (12), Ava (10), and Owen (8). Chuck treasured his family and friendships throughout his life. A special thank you goes to Ron and Cathy Williams for their unwavering support.

Chuck’s warmth, humor, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew him.
