Corinne E. “Corky” Splitt (née Heidt), 71, passed away on March 11, 2026.  Born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Corky later made her home in Johnsburg, where she built a life centered around love, family, and quiet generosity.  She is survived by her husband, Laurence Splitt, and many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews who brought her immense joy. She was preceded in death by her cherished children, Larry and Sharon; her parents, Frank and Phyllis Heidt; her sisters, Claudia and Susan; and her niece, Lindsey.  Corky was known to everyone who loved her as selfless, caring, kind, and deeply generous. She had a way of making people feel comfortable and cared for the moment they walked into her home. Holidays were her specialty - Christmas and Easter especially - where her house became a gathering place filled with warmth, laughter, and an unforgettable spread of home-cooked meals and desserts. She was a natural hostess, gifted at bringing people together and making every moment feel special. Her love for others extended far beyond her home. As a mother to a child with special needs and through her work as an assistant at the SEDOM Center, Corky dedicated much of her life to caring for and supporting children who needed extra love and attention. She gave freely of her time, her energy, and her heart - often putting others before herself without hesitation.  In more recent years, Corky embraced new chapters of life with the same spirit of joy and appreciation. During her time living in Elgin, she found happiness in the simple pleasures - sharing laughs over drinks on the patio, cooling off at the pool, and even enjoying special moments like watching the solar eclipse with her sister-in-laws. She treasured time with friends, including visits from her dear friend Barbra, and delighted in the companionship of beloved pets, doting on them with her signature gentle affection. Whether it was a holiday celebration, a quiet afternoon, or a trip with loved ones, Corky lived fully in the moments that mattered most - those spent surrounded by family and friends. What made her smile most was simply being with the people she loved. Corky’s life was a reflection of kindness in action - steady, generous, and genuine. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and remembered always for the warmth she brought into every room and every life she touched.
