Jerome Richard Edge “Jerry” “Edgy,” 66, of Woodstock, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with glioblastoma.

Jerry was born on April 8, 1960, in Belvidere, Illinois. His father, Jerome Edge I, passed away just one week before he was born, and he was later raised by his stepfather, Donald Zickuhr, alongside his brothers Gary and Kerry. Family meant everything to Jerry, and the bond he shared with those he loved carried through every chapter of his life.

Jerry was the proud owner and operator of Just Machinery Movers in Woodstock, Illinois. He believed in hard work, took pride in what he built, and loved talking about trucks, cars, engines, and just about anything with horsepower. If you knew Jerry, you knew he could tell a story better than just about anybody.

But more than anything, Jerry will be remembered for his spirit.

His personality was BIG. Bigger than life. Bigger than the room. He had the kind of energy people were instantly drawn to. He was kind to everyone he met, long before cancer ever entered the picture, and especially throughout the last several months of his life, he continued reminding people of one simple thing: be kind.

Jerry was an athlete through and through. He loved racing Ironmans, triathlons, or anything challenging. He attacked every race with the same grit and determination he brought into every part of his life. Built like an ox and tougher than most people could ever imagine, Jerry pushed himself hard and wore every finish line with pride. Whether he crossed exhausted, emotional, smiling, or all three at once, you could feel the sense of accomplishment radiating off of him. He earned every mile, every medal, and every memory that came with it.

He loved deeply, laughed loudly, and lived fully. He was stubborn in all the best ways, strong, and the kind of man who made people feel important just by being around him. Whether he was lifting weights, telling stories, cracking jokes, or encouraging the world to dare to try, Jerry did life completely and unapologetically as himself.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Stacy Akers; his children Crystal (Eric) Huenefeld, Jerome (Megan) Edge III, Richard (Chelsea) Edge, Andrea (Thomas) Edge, and Lauren Akers; and the grandchildren he adored: Charlotte, J.R., Carmen, BayLee, and Camden.

He is also survived by his brothers Gary (Cindy) Zickuhr and Kerry (Alison) Zickuhr.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Donald Zickuhr, Karen Kaufman, and Jerome Edge I.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 11, 2026 with visitation from 5-7:00pm and a memorial service from 7-8:00pm at Grace Fellowship Church, 200 Cairns Court, Woodstock, Illinois 60098.

Jerry’s family asks that people come as themselves, share stories, laugh loudly, and honor the kind of life he lived, full of love, humor, grit, and heart.

And if there’s a gym in Heaven, we all know Jerry’s already there, smiling big and cheering everybody on.
