Michael Joseph Carlson, of Woodstock, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife and twin daughters.
Michael will always be remembered for his unmatched sense of humor—no one could make his loved ones laugh quite like he could. His quick wit, playful spirit, and infectious laugh brightened every room, leaving behind countless memories full of joy and laughter.
He had a deep love for music and a lifelong passion for sports, especially as a devoted fan of the Chicago Blackhawks. In his younger years, Michael excelled at nearly every sport he played, and he carried that same energy and competitive spirit into cards and pool, where he was known to be exceptional.
Some of the most treasured moments with Michael were the simple ones—long, meaningful conversations, laughter-filled games of cards, and friendly rounds of ping pong or pool at home. He had a way of making every interaction feel special, turning ordinary days into unforgettable memories.
Above all, Michael was a devoted family man. He was incredibly proud of his daughters, who were the light of his life, and he held deep gratitude and love for his extraordinary and devoted wife, Angie. Mike and Angie shared a love story that spanned a lifetime—together for 55 years and married for 48 of those years, with a friendship that began in their youth. Angie often said she couldn’t remember a life before Mike was in it, a testament to the deep and enduring bond they shared. Their love was constant, unwavering, and inspiring, and it will continue beyond this life until they are reunited once again.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Angie Carlson; his daughters, Stephanie Schutz (son-in-law James Schutz) and Melanie David (son-in-law Chad David); and his cherished grandchildren, Ava, Abby, Gemma, Kane, and Nathan. He is also survived by his sisters, Dede Carnahan and Linda Bryan (husband Chuck Bryan). He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Terry Carlson, and his brothers, David and Billy Carlson (wife Debbie Carlson).
A celebration of Michael’s life is being planned, and details will be shared with family and friends in the coming days.
Michael’s laughter, warmth, and love will be deeply missed but never forgotten, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
