Michael F. Woodward, 76, passed away March 24, 2026. He was born June 17, 1949, in Elmhurst, Illinois, son of the late Robert R. and Dorothy C. (Neumann) Woodward.
From his earliest years, Michael carried himself with a steady sense of purpose and a straightforward integrity that shaped the way he lived and worked. He graduated from Northland College, and after his father’s passing, Michael took over his father’s Ford dealership in Woodstock, Illinois. He owned and managed the dealership for 30 years prior to retirement, earning recognition from Ford Motors as a notably young dealership owner and receiving many professional awards over the years.
Michael cherished time with his two nieces and their children. He also made many lasting memories with his long-term partner, Joyce Sedam. Together, they enjoyed quiet time at home with their dog, Cookie, as well as nights out at dinner with close friends—simple, meaningful moments that became the fabric of a life well lived.
A talented golfer, Michael loved golfing with friends, bringing to the course the same focus and steadiness that marked so much of his life. He displayed quiet creativity through a number of hobbies, but especially wood working, something he took pride in. He also cherished his yellow Ford Thunderbird, purchased after his retirement from Ford Motors—an enduring symbol of a career built through years of hard work and earned respect.
Michael is survived by his son, Ryan (Sanli) Woodward; his granddaughters, Ellewyn and Nora; his nieces, Kim (Andy) Reinhard and Jamie (Chris) Ingeman; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Brennan, Harrison, Caroline, Elysa, Josh, and Rachel; and his partner, Joyce Ann Sedam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert R. and Dorothy C. (Neumann) Woodward; and his sister, Kathy Crandall.
A memorial visitation will be held June 19, 2026 from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Cardinal Funeral Home 7715 US Rte 14 Crystal Lake IL 60012 followed by a private burial.
