Shannon Bloznik

Shannon Katherine Louise Thompson Bloznik, age 71, of Fox River Grove, Illinois, passed away on August 22, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois, due to complications during surgery. She was born in Elgin, IL May 1, 1954, to Robert and Annie Thompson.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Rebecca) Van Pelt; her grandson, Owen Freeman; her brother, Tracey Thompson; her nephew, Kelly Thompson; her niece, Melissa Thompson; her great-niece, Cassandra (Adam) Carr; her great-nephew, Brandon Thompson; her great-great-nephews, Xavier and Griffin Carr; her lifelong best friends, Karen and Laura Wendorf; and her beloved kitties, Thelma and Louise, who are now missing their mom dearly and need a new loving home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Bloznik.

Listing all of Shannon’s true friends and the many lives she touched would far exceed the limits of any printer. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, loyalty, and the love she shared with family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her. She especially cherished her annual trips to Mexico with her friends, which were a highlight of each year, and she was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, rarely missing a game.
